ABOUT DISTRICT COURT

Hailakandi district is one of the 35 districts of Assam state in north-eastern India. It makes up the Barak Valley alongside Cachar and Karimganj. It was constituted as a civil subdivision on 1 June 1869. Subsequently, it was upgraded to a district in 1989, when it was split from Cachar district. It was constituted as a civil subdivision on 1 June 1869. Subsequently, it was upgraded to a district in 1989.

The District & Sessions Judge Court, Hailakandi was inaugurated ion 20-04-92. There are presently 8 (eight) number courts in the judgeship. These are -

(1) The court of District & Sessions Judge,

(2) The court of the Additional District & Sessions Judge,

(3) The court of The Civil Judge Sr. Division & Assistant Sessions Judge,

(4) The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate,

(5) The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate,

(6) The court of Civil Judge Jr. Division No.1 cum Judicial Magistrate First Class,

(7) The court of Civil Judge Jr. Division No.2 Judicial Magistrate First Class, and
